Chain Reaction of Kindness

It has been a full week of Rachel's Challenge!!! I had the honor of being able to meet with Darrel & Sandy Scott - - Rachel's dad and step-mom. What amazing people!!! They work tirelessly to spread Rachel's message of kindness and compassion to students around the world. It was so great to be able to talk to them about how we can take the program to the next level in Idaho.

Columbia High Students have been working so hard to create a chain of kindness for our homecoming game. Hundreds of students, teachers and community members wrote down compliments or acts of kindness that they had done onto individual chain links. When I met with Rachel's parents, I even asked them if they would write something for our project - - and of course they did which was so neat to include in our chain. The result: A HUGE chain that took tons of students to carry out during halftime of the game. What a neat visual to be able to see the kindness being shown in our school. We were honored that KTVB sent a camera to the game to specifically cover what our students had done. The pictures aren't too glam as the temperatures dipped way down that evening and the wind was horrible. It took everything we had to keep our chain from being blown away!

I love my sponsors!!!

I am so grateful for the wonderful people who help me achieve my dreams. Karin Echols is an AMAZING esthetician who sponsors all of my skin care and brow shaping to help me look my best. I was able to be at her open house this evening and help her out with her event. Thank you so much Karin for all that you do!

Call Karin for a fabulous facial!!! (there is a link to her on my sidebar)

With the Leaders for Rachel's Challenge Club

This morning I attended the Rachel's Challenge Club meeting at Columbia High School. I am so excited to be an advisor to their club. Columbia High is the lead school for Rachel's Challenge in Idaho and is looked to as the example.
The biggest activity we are working on right now at the school is to complete a chain link that will circle the football field during halftime of the homecoming football game. Each time a student does something kind for someone else, they write what they did on the link - - it is our goal to make this chain big enough, or even bigger to reach our goal. It is amazing to see students going out of their way to be part of this.

September 4th - - a Wonderful Memory!

22 years ago today I kissed my hubby for the first time!!! It was after a home football game. I was a cheerleader, he was a football stud! A bunch of us toliet papered the whole town (you could do that in tiny Parma, Idaho!) We concentrated mostly on teachers, the principal and even the superintendent's house. OK - - I know this blog is all about kindness - - you'll have to excuse that part of the story!!! Anyway, to make a long story short, Marc and I talked for hours and I was a little late getting home. I told my mom that I "lost" my keys and that we had spent all that time looking for them. Yes, excuse the little white lie also!
Here is the kindness part:
When I got home from work today there was a new set of "KEYS" on my pillow!!! One is hot pink and there is a heart hanging from the ring. His homemade card said:
Toliet Papering Superintendent's House - - CRAZY
Losing your Keys (wink, wink) - - MEMORABLE
22 years & 5 Beautiful Kids - - PRICELESS

What husbands do those things??? It absolutely made my day! Love you Honey!

By the way, we spent the evening at Columbia's first home football game tonight! How appropriate

Bless her Heart

Today I had a substitute job at Reagan Elementary - - the same school my two youngest children attend. I had afternoon recess duty and my daughter McCall was on the playground at the same time. Of course she LOVED that her mom was there and spent most of her recess with me. As soon as she heard her teacher blow the whistle to go in, she gave me a big hug and started to run towards the door. She ran past a girl in her grade who is in a wheelchair. McCall stopped dead in her tracks, turned around and offered to push her friend to the doors. It was one of the sweetest things I have ever seen and I had to bite my cheek so I wouldn't cry because I still had an hour of teaching 3rd graders! What a simple little gesture that surely made her friend smile. I'm so proud of you McCall, and the wonderful example you are to me! ~Love Mom!

Kindness is a very big thing

Remember there's no such thing as a small act of kindness. Every act creates a ripple with no logical end.
